If I could have the -- the attention of everybody here, it is my great pleasure to introduce Loren Duke Abdalla, a former Marine Raider during World War II, who's currently being reviewed for the highest honor from the United States for military service, the Medal of Honor. Loren Abdalla's actions during World War II, when he was known as "The Indian", due to his Native American heritage with the Yankton Sioux Tribe from South Dakota -- during the Battle of Okinawa, in the face of heavy enemy fire, Loren Abdalla bravely led his platoon to successfully achieve the objectives that they were tasked with. Couple of additional, very interesting points: He's the (great) grandson of Chief Running Bull, who signed the Peace Treaty with the United States in 1858, and he's the (great- ) great-grandson of Zuyesa, who ceded the land east of the Mississippi to the U.S., including this very land that this building is built on. He's here in the gallery today and I'd ask you all to give him a standing ovation. Thank you for your service in World War II.

Phil Gilbert is a federal judge in the Southern District of Illinois. He's also a guy who went to law school at Loyola with me, was my roommate, and his father was a Republican State Senator in -- from the Carbondale area. So please welcome them to Springfield. Also, in the morning, we're going to have a breakfast from 7:30 to 9:15 at the Stratton Building, and it is to talk about the Latino student success and the future of the Illinois economy.
